Erica Nelson
Hi Melissa, thank you for taking the time to reach out to us regarding your recent claims experience. Firstly, we hope that you and your family are staying safe during this challenging time. Secondly, we are sorry you are unhappy with the 90-day Job Lay Off exclusion in your policy.
A Job Lay Off is defined differently from a Permanent Job Loss in our policies because layoff situations vary in duration. A Lay Off may last one month or six months, and in some cases, there can be numerous lay off periods in a short period of time. It’s difficult to predict, which is why we have a 90-day waiting period.
When you processed a previous claim with us a few years ago under this same policy, it was approved and payment issued within days of filing your proof of claim. We do everything we can to ensure that our claims are processed accurately and efficiently.
If you would like to discuss the circumstances surrounding this current claim, we are always available to do so. We encourage you to reach out and continue working with our claims team.
We understand that the current climate is uncertain and challenging. There are many financial aid resources available to Canadians through the government and banks/other financial institutions. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback with us.
