I had the chrome steps on my Silverado replaced under warranty.
They were pitted and scratched from normal use...service advisor, accessory manager and my salesman all agreed that there was a defect in the product and were helpful with me getting them replaced. They might have to be replaced again in the future until GM comes up with a better product for their steps.
1 I had to bring it back 4 times before the service department would acknowledge that there was an issue
2 It took almost a week to install a fuel pump
3 When replacing the pump did not solve the issue I tried to contact the service department and no one would respond to the messages that I left

I'm sorry your experience with our Service Department was less than you'd hope for.
