Car was in for check engine light, still under warranty so was not too worried about it. Had checked the codes myself before going In. Was giving a code about purge flow rate (p0497) and a generic emission code(p145c). P0497 relates to the Purge Control solenoid, a part that is known to fail and I'm sure your techs have replaced before. So I was told that there was a fee of 88$ plus tax to check the codes but if a code led to a warranty repair that the cost would be covered. I let the guy at the service desk know what codes I had found before giving him the keys. After about 30 minutes, I'm called to the service desk and told that it was my gas cap that was loose. I asked what codes the car was giving and he ignored me until my 3rd time asking. Then he tells me " well actually the check engine light was off when we brought it in"... he also told me that there were no codes listed as inactive in the ECM and that he had to go tell the technician the codes I had given to him. This is where I realised he was lying to me, all codes that were active will be stored in the ECM unless manually deleted with a code reader. Seems like I was given a run around so that you did not have to absorb any of the costs. To add to this on my copy of the invoice it says the technician found codes and cleared them. Also I took my gas cap off after leaving and drove 97 kilometers. The check engine light never came on...

Got me in very quickly. Fixed my bent rim in a short time and had me back on the road quickly.
