Not prepared at all
I took the veterinary assistant course. It was a year long but only 4 months were dedicated to learning the veterinary aide of things. When I got a job I felt totally unprepared for it. There was not nearly enough time dedicated to teaching veterinary medical care and way too much time spent teaching me how to format a document. Now we have an Eastern College student doing her on the job training with us, she says the vet courses have been shortened to TWO months!? Why? How are they supposed to be prepared and secure a job when they aren't trained at all in vet terminology, instruments, procedures, common illnesses, surgeries, and so much more. We need to know this stuff for the job. And Eastern College isn't preparing students for the job they want. Overall very dissatisfied with this school.
