A good negotiation experience.
I do wish the sales person had the ability to talk cost. Always needing permission of sales manager makes them little more than a cog in a machine. I know everyone does it, but that is not an excuse. Predetermine the parameters within which the sales people can operate.
Personally Mark, you should try and make a better personal connection with your customer. This will allow you to read them better and you will achieve a higher price with many. In this deal I reached out to you. Your ball hockey, kids etc. You know little about me. This allowed me to read you better and know how far you could be pushed in the negotiations.
Do even know who the woman who came with me was or what her role in the sale was? Remember it was she who saw the down side, the high # of KM's for a 3 year old vehicle, the fact it was only front wheel drive, etc.
In general I found the sale reasonably friendly and I think we got to a somewhat reasonable price but I still think it a bit high. Anyway I wish you a great success in your sales career.
