Very poor first impression and service from the financing department.
My initial impression of Murray Chevrolet was very poor. I had decided to visit Murray Chevrolet as my boyfriend had recently purchased his vehicle there and had a very positive experience. Upon entering the store I had no one greet me or direct me. After spending a good 20-30 minutes on the floor around the desk no one still acknowledged me. I decided to walk the lot as I had a good idea of what I wanted and wanted to see what you had that would fit my needs. Again after walking the lot no one approached me. I decided to return inside and as I did I held the door open for one of your sales man (Dan). I went directly to the sales desk where there were 3 or 4 salesmen working. I stood at the desk for a good 20 minutes (maybe even 30) and was only acknowledged once Dan came back inside and recognized me from having held the door open for him. He asked me if he could help me and I said I wanted to purchase a car. He was still with a customer but promised to be right with me as soon as he could (which is what I expected to hear upon entering the store). A comment I heard from one of the salesmen was quote " I just assumed she belonged to that man"... I was very upset to know that women are treated as possessions at Murray and still marginalized when it comes to purchasing a vehicle. I came in ready to spend thousands of dollars (literally) and that is how I was treated. Dan was great once he was able to help me! I also had some dissatisfaction with the financing office. I had provided all the information of what my bank was loaning me and at what rate. I also told the financing officer the number of years I wanted the financing to be (5) and the person insisted to go with longer. I was promised that my bank's rate would be beat with the longer than 5 year option. When I came in to pick up my vehicle, to my surprise the financing office did not beat my banks offer, not even close. I asked for a bill of sales so that I could go to my bank a get the loan finalized. The financing person refused to give me a bill of sales and instead insisted that she try again. After all this she did find a better financing option with 5 years as I had asked. This just meant that I had to wait an extra 2 days before I could actually get my vehicle which could have really been avoided had the financing person simply fully listened to what I was asking for with the information I provided. Over all I am happy with my vehicle (minus having gum still stuck in the handle). I wouldn't say that Murray Chevrolet made the purchase of my first vehicle a pleasant one. I do not think that I would recommend any female go to Murray Chevrolet to purchase a vehicle.
