Chris explained out what had gone wrong with our civic as we had a loud clunk when putting in gear. Come to find out one of the axle nuts was not torqued correctly at the factory and had backed out allowing the axle to snap in the wheel bearing. Did a bit of search on this and found it appears to be a common problem with some civics.
