Never Again

Rented a van for the purposes of a business tradeshow trip to Chicago. I called in the day before to confirm and was told all is good. Yet at 8 am when we were to pick up, as we had to leave for the trip at 8:45 am we were told NO Van available. Offered SUVs half the space of a van....we had absolutely no choice but to take one of the SUV's as all other rentals companies were out of vans(ended up calling 5 different numbers right away) This whole experience ended up costing us double, as the 2 persons having to travel with us, ended up driving separately(no room in suv) - gas, parking in Chicago $30US a day in the hotel etc. And the service my goodness- the girl kept asking why I was upset and why I was insisting on the van?????? Did not realize that a person needs to explain the use of the vehicle when they rent. All in all the stress they caused before we were to set off on a 10hr driving business trip was beyond anything I experienced before. Do you think they even called to apologize or offer a discount because of the mix up that ended up causing all this grief and extra expenses! Of course not!! I hope this was helpful from a person who has rented many vehicles around the world...... and never experienced this before.
