Terrible experience in Barrhaven Mazda
I bought brand new 2018 CX-5 Mazda from this dealer. For the past 3+ years, I have been there to get all maintenance done. On Nov.11 2021 I went to Barrhaven Mazda to swap winter tires, and was told the back brake pads needed to be changed, which I agreed. When I drove on the local road outside this dealer, the drive felt a little bumpy. I thought it was because of the road conditions, which I couldn’t see since it was so dark. Then I drove 17+ km highway get home. When I stepped out of the car, I smelt an extremely strong burnt rubber smell. One of left back tire bolts was so hot, my finger skin got burned. I knew something wrong with the replaced brake, so I called them. The next day, the service manager asked me to drive to the center, I said it was not safe to drive and asked them send a tow truck, which they did. At noon, they called and said clearly that it was the mechanic’s mistake, as he didn't check or missed the caliper, causing the caliper to not go back. He also said the caliper, acuator, motor were damaged and needed to be replaced. When I got to store, I asked why the road test didn’t detect this. The manager said the mechanic tested it but not on highway. I asked the service manager what caused caliper not going back, he just kept on saying something else. I kept on asking him, and finally he said "It sometimes happens, you just had bad luck". This made the Mazda brand sound very unsafe. And they made me pay another $725.61 for parts and labor caused by this! This is beyond ridiculous! I understand that human error happens, but they put the responsibility of their error on the customer to make money from it, it's definitely unacceptable. And their attitude shows they don't care about customer's safety at all. "It sometimes happens, you just had bad luck", REALLY? Now I have worries when I drive this car, as I am doubting the safety of this brand.
