Worst experience ever!

From the moment I walked in, the attendant was totally helpless. He couldn’t even open the safe to get the keys, so I had to help him open the safe. Then the car I had requested was not available, he gave me a different car, we went through the entire process for 15 minutes, just to find out that car was also not available. By this time, I’ve been there for 30 minutes. Still no car. I had an appointment and I was late. Finally received the car just to find out the car was very dirty, like it’s been on an unsaved road. I had to take it because I was late. I arrived 20 minutes late to my appointment. Worst experience renting a car, I will never come back.

Forced into a vehicle I didn’t want

I reserved a midsize SUV - Ford Explorer class. Was given a Dodge Durango which is HUGE and terrible on gas because they didn’t have anything else. Fairly annoying considering I reserved months prior.

Very bad service when we had a flat tyre.

We thought we rented with Europcar but this turned out to be through Discount. They were very disorganised and had no system in place of knowing which cars were still rented out or returned late and which cars were available. It was complete chaos! On our last day we had a flat tyre and found out the spare tyre in the car was missing (?!). The road side assistance truck that came did not bring a spare tyre (miscommunication) and had to tow us to a garage. This garage turned out to not have a contract with Discount (miscommunication again?) and therefore Discount refused for this garage to help us in any possible way. Discount were very rude and offensive to the garage staff and did not offer any safe or reasonable solution suggesting we'd drive with a flat tyre from Kelowna to Vancouver. The garage then very kindly assisted us without any charge to get us safely to the nearest garage associated with Discount, because otherwise we had to call (and pay for) the tow truck again to bring us there. When we handed the car in a day late (due to above events) Discount staff were rude, unhelpful and offensive (including 'threats' to claim the entire compulsory excess amount because legally they are allowed to and lying about why there was no spare tyre provided with the vehicle). It was a very unpleasant experience and I would never rent with them again!

Lack of information about the hidden fees and drop-off procedures was very disquieting.

Your website did not specify that I would be charged a $1,000 (CAD) fee for renting the car to ensure that I returned it. It also did not specify that the return date that I selected was the date that the office would be closed. The rental rep did note that the office would be closed on the day that I was set to return it and that he needed to tell me the drop-off procedure in that case. He forgot to do that. So when I tried calling the office, of course, it was closed late Saturday afternoon. I then tried calling the general info line but the rep who answered was unable to provide any specific info about the drop off procedure at the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Hotel location. I was able to drop it off after the front desk of Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Hotel provided me with detailed information on that procedure. I went to the rental office on Monday, (Oct. 1st) but it was closed during its normal 9-5 pm hours. When I went back to check again later in the afternoon, the three employees there were in the process of leaving and assured me that all cars dropped off on Sunday had been received without any problems and left without providing any paperwork to evidence that return. They also said that my credit card account would be credit with the $1,000 charge within 2-3 business days. My $1,000 (CAD) fee is still pending on my account. Not very happy at the moment.
