Hidden charges

Arrived to pick up my rental only to be told that , despite having my own CDW insurance , I had to take the company's insurance ; that cost me over Can $ 200 on top of my rental quote . Can't find any clear company statement on their policy . RIP OFF .

Bait and Switch

In August of 2018 I reserved a car from Euro Car and picked it up at Discount Car in downtown Vancouver BC and had a relatively good experience . Then I reserved another car in Sept. thru Euro Car and again was to pick it up at the same Discount location. When I arrived to get the car I was informed that I was REQUIRED to pay a daily rate for insurance. because I was a non Canadian resident I explained that my personal insurance covered me for cars I rent in US and Canada. I also explained that the previous time I rented a car I was not required to pay the daily insurance. Also I showed the manager the reservation page I received from Euro Car and there was no mention of a requirement for daily insurance. The manager said this was a problem with Euro Car reservation system and not her or Discount's responsibility. I said the sign on her door said Euro Car and as far as I was concerned her office was a Euro Car location and it was ridiculous for her not to take responsibility. I felt this was a bait and switch situation. I objected to the bait and switch tactic that I was presented with. The manager was insolent and rude. In the end I did not rent the car and will never utilize Euro Car or Discount Car Rental again. I am a very unhappy customer (former) who is now motivated to persuade others not to rent from Discount or Euro Car. I rent significant number of cars in a year but because of this experience Euro Car and Discount will not be the recipient of those rentals.

Slow service

There was a dispute of a customer that took about 45 minutes to solve (from the moment I got there, it probably started earlier), so the two attendants or going back and forth in talks to this customer and were slow to service other customers. At least they made the courtesy of letting me stay with the car over the weekend despite of my rental was only for a day.

Quite A Dissapointment

The car was released to my person with garbage left over from the previous renter. I was suprised by this because the garbage was in plain sight, and yet, the rental location failed to notice this and dispose of it. I called the rental location to notify them of the suprising/hazardous/illegal leftovers and there was no sign of sympathy from the representative. I received a call from Discount Customer Service a day after returning the vehicle, conducting a survey as per the experience I had with this location. Among the few questions asked was, "Did the rental location call you to follow up with you?" I replied by saying "no." I guess this is a policy of the rental agency which was not upheld from this location. Was quite disappointed after hearing this. The only positive thing about this was I was upgraded with no extra charge as the category of car I reserved was not available.

Marriot Pinacle store

Staff was disorganized, Agreed to pick up my car at 3pm, waited until 4:45 while my car sat there waiting for 45 minuted while they helped other customers instead of providing me the keys, I asked several times and they kept saying sorry we haven't cleaned it yet. I understand other customers were coming in however, when one customer has been waiting that long they should come first. When i returned the vehicle i had booked it for an 8pm return however when they signed out my car an hour and 45 minutes late they changed my return time without me noticing to 4 pm and then complained when i returned the at 6 pm they were quite upset said i would have to pay them another day for being so late. Since they were an hour 45 late providing me the car and i was 2 hours early dropping it off i have to pay another day? They also provided me with an SUV when i asked for a small vehicle so i payed more in gas than i would have liked. I usually rent with enterprise, however Discount offered the better location in this case, in the future i will definitely go out of my way to get to enterprise, i have never had an experience like this and i have been renting quite often for over 10 years.
