Terrible treatment from instructor barbarian program in St. John

I been at this school as a student and instructor at school, Cheryl Cambell. She is a terrible teacher as she teaches nothing proper. She is very disrespectful and racist, I am from another country, Ukraine. She always yelled at me, never helped me and told me I was not welcome in Canada. She had said only Canadians should go to this school. She has kicked me out of school. She reported me to the barbarian association for some small things I have done. All I have done is show someone how to do threading eyebrows, the association tells me I broke a law that someone had been in school and saw the teacher left me with a client alone. She cant do that as she is supposed to teach me. The association ignored that fact, she has broken the law as well, she still works as a teacher at the school. The association did not give me any warning or fines and told me just to go home. I tried to appeal in the hearing, the association would not listen to me as they said I was from another city. They have told me to go back to my home town to be an apprentice. After two weeks they sent me mail to wait for a hearing of $1,125 to the association. They gave me thirty days to pay for it and if I have not paid they will fine me. for the license of $100 I am back in my home town and have no family to support me. I lost my education, my student grade, I have lost a future diploma . The instructor always abused me verbally by saying that my skills were not good. I am in a difficult situation because I have nothing, I cannot get a job nor a place to stay or live. No one had given me an opportunity to be an apprentice, I ask barber shops, people do not want to give me the opportunity as I did not manage to graduate as I was kicked out of the school. The administration had not done anything when I reported her and asked for help from many people many times. They never listened to me. I feel abused, discrimination. I would not recommend this school as you are losing your time and money. It is too stressful and no one is willing to teach or help you.

Awesome

Thank you Eastern in Moncton for all your help with my son Jonah. He loved his course. He struggles with LD, but you were all so kind and understanding. He loved his teacher and the friends he made. Due to covid there wasn't a graduation, but you invited him to 2023 graduation in the fall. Thanks for caring about your students. Proud mom of a graduate.

The instructors are amazingly dedicated

Eastern College graduates are needed in our community to help our seniors. This caregiver program is much needed to help with seniors care in the comfort of their own home. Instructors at this college are dedicated and engaged in the programs.

terrible experiences with Halifax massage clinic

Seemingly this place is great because you only pay $20 for a massage. However, after today, I will NEVER return to this establishment, nor will I ever get a massage from a person that was a student at this college. I will forever do my research and not support this poorly ran establishment. For about a year now on and off, I have booked an appointment when I can. Their internal system for doing this has several "glitched" and not taken my appointment or better yet, they cancel on you and don't let you know. This is what JUST happened to me today. I have my Google calendar synced with theirs so I can ALWAYS remember to make my appointments. My appointment was showing on my calendar up until approximately 6 am this morning. I called after my physio appointment to make sure I still had this massage booked that I put in for SIX WEEKS ago. This was my response. "Oh...so we had to move appointments around because some of our students aren't here. And yours was canceled." I ask, so an appointment I NEED for after my physio today is not available and I don't get a notification for this until I call you and ask hats going on. Her response was, "Yeah." That's it, no empathy, no concern for the fact that I have a real medical need for this, and it's not just something I want to be done. I am referred out to have these done because of acute injuries and a broken back that I am trying to heal without the use of surgery and drugs. Eastern College doesn't care if you have a real need for their services. They don't even care o let you know that you cannot have your appointment, nor do they even care to try and attempt to make things right when it was them who did not do their job in informing the client (me) that my appointment was canceled with ample time. I was suggested to "Look for another clinic for an appointment today" HA!@ A superiorly poor suggestion. It's 9 days before Christmas and you want me to find a SAME-DAY MASSAGE APPOINTMENT! Thanks for the crappy advice. I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. And it's really sad considering they are a college. They are teaching these students who learn from them that it's ok to treat your clients like this. It's ok to just cancel and not give a damn about another person's health. This is the kind of mindset they are teaching and putting out into the professional world. Eastern College you are part of the problem, not the solution.

I wouldn't recommend Eastern College

I am a current remote (online) student at Eastern College. My personal experience is that this is nothing more than a money making business. The focus seems to be to push students through the program as quickly as possible without the student actually gaining much useful knowledge. My marks are excellent in the Accounting and Payroll Program. While I personally study a great deal, I feel part of my excellent marks are because 100% grades are given simply by watching quick online tutorials. It seems almost impossible to fail. The curriculum is delivered in such a rushed manner. The goal seems to be to give away marks so it looks like they have a lot of high achieving graduates out in the job market. If you are after a diploma with little effort than Eastern College is for you. However, if you are more interested in a real education that you can take into the job market, a better choice would be a community college.
