Brand new BRAKES INSTALLED BACKWARDS ($1250 to replace) & Hidden COSTS
Purchased a 2015 car in Dec 2018 with brand new front and back brakes INSTALLED BACKWARDS!
1) Both sets of brakes were INSTALLED BACKWARDS. After 6 months, one set had to be replaced, and after 12 months the next set had to be replaced. It cost me $1250 to have them replaced. I offered for them to pay for the replacement of just one set of brakes ($670) they offered me $200 instead.
- Complexe Auto tried to tell me it was normal for an old car - the car was 3 years old so fairly new. Regardless, imagine having to replace 2 sets of brakes every year. Ask around ... do you know anyone who has to replace 2 sets of car brakes every year?
2) Complexe Auto advertised sales price didn't include the $150 fee for cleaning the car.
Things to note:
A- Hidden problems with a car are, by law, under warranty: see
https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/en/consumer/good-service/vehicle/car-purchase/used/damage-warranty/legal-warranty/
B- There is online help to proceed with small claims. See: https://www.justice.gouv.qc.ca/en/your-disputes/small-claims/process-and-help-for-the-applicant/filing-an-application-at-the-small-claims-division-sj-870e/
C- The consumer protection requires advertised prices to be kept. Meaning the $150 cleaning fee I was charged violated this. See https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/en/consumer/good-service/vehicle/car-purchase/new-car/advertising/advertising-price/
D- I will proceed with Small Claims court to recuperate my full amount, and other costs. I will post my step-by step process on YouTube in the next couple of months for others to follow.
