Good car, decent trade in allowance, quite satisfied

Dealt with a newbie who had to check with his supervisor to make sure the deal was the best possible. Lots of questions he wasn’t able to answer but managed to find the right answers with help. Overall good experience!

Feeling Totally Ripped Off

They worked on my vehicle from 11 am to 4 pm (5 hours max). I was charged 9 hours of labour. There were approximately 4 jobs that required work on the engine. Although the engine was worked on for 4 different jobs I was charged for assembly / disassembly each time even though they only had to do it once. Their response was that the labour charge was industry practice, So they pocketed $537 extra labour. I guess the industry standard is set to rip off people. Invoice said "complimentary" car wash in two places. No car wash because of Covid. Then take it off your description of work completed. Then tried to email the address on the back of the invoice. Keeps bouncing back. Very frustrating. I will say they took care of our car quickly and turned it around very fast. I am retired and $537 is a ton of money for me.

Aweful

Just purchased a brand new VW Atlas in March. salesman was ok- epitome of push your sale and then shitty service. For a company trying to rebuild a brand from previous scandal I expected much more. Vehicle came with a/c that didn’t work which we didn’t notice until summer and we have had it in to orillia VW to be fixed. First off we travelled to get the a/c diagnosed for them to tell us they didn’t have tome to do it. Don’t you think someone who travelled and spent $50k on a brand new vehicle would take precendence? Means nothing to them. 9 days we waited with a loaner and this dealership is not local to us so had to travel a fair distance each way. No remorse or kindness just ignorance. After all that the A/c was misdiagnosed and never worked properly in fact was worse after this. Have travelled once again to get it Fixed and now it’s another issue that will take 7-10 days to get a part and then book appt to install. That’s a 3rd time to recite the same issue from the beginning. I have no faith in the Service or mechanical department to rectify the problem all the while we have had one of the hottest summers and have had to travel to attempt to fix this with no acknowledgement or apology or anything. Hands down the worst dealership we have ever experienced. Should have stuck with Subaru of Orillia bc their service was out of this world. Will never buy another VW and certainly avoid Orillia VW at all costs

Bad oil change, amongst other things

Orillia VW is the closest dealership to us at 125 kms away. I had issues dealing with this dealership during dieselgate. They called me down to have the ‘fix’ done on the Jetta, as the parts package had finally arrived, only to tell me once I got there that they had used the package on another customers car… On another occasion after the ‘fix’, a fault code came up showing that the car was going to shut down after a certain number of kms… When we called Orillia they said that they were booked up and would not have a loaner car for us. According to our warranty, if the Jetta had to remain in the shop they were obligated to provide us a car. We drove to Orangeville, where they looked at our car immediately, even though they were completely booked. They told us that the car had to stay there and arranged for a rental car at no charge to us, as per our warranty agreement with VW. Just this past week, I made an appointment for an oil change and to have them troubleshoot engine noise at idle. Once we arrived they recommended we have the 120,000 km servicing done, which we agreed to. This scheduled 120,000 km maintenance includes amongst other things an exhaust system check. After 4 hours, this was their report. At first, the mechanic thought the extra noise was a loose exhaust pipe at the turbo. He tightened the pipe, but there was no change to the noise. For this we were charged $59.50. Part of this 120,000 km service is a check on the entire exhaust system during which the ‘loose’ pipe should have been noticed and corrected. At the time of recommending this service be performed on that day, we were told that it was a $600 job. It was later that he discovered that the noise was created by a clutch bearing on the air conditioning compressor. They alerted us to the fact that this was going to fail at some point. This means we left without having the problem fixed. We will have to make another appointment soon, before something catastrophic happens when that clutch bearing fails. Now to the real issue. We drove home, one and a half hours, and went to use the car one hour later. A yellow oil light was on, meaning low oil. The dipstick showed just the tip was touching the oil. (After checking 5 times in disbelief) When we called Orillia they did tell us to have our car towed to Orillia at their expense. Due to the pandemic, we were not allowed to ride in the cab of the tow truck. So, at their recommendation, I found in town here some of the synthetic oil necessary for this Jetta. Cost me $100. (I bought 6 litres) I put 4 litres of oil in the car and drove to Orillia stopping once to check the oil level which was fine. (I was worried that it was leaking. Where would all the oil have gone?) They checked the oil and told me it was ‘over full’. They drained 7 litres of oil out of the system. That means, if there was no leak… they only put 3 litres in originally, not the 5.5 litres called for. Facts: The oil was drastically low when we got home, the trouble light came on. I put in 4 litres of oil I was charged for 6 litres of oil for the oil change in the shop (there was only 3 added) I was charged for an engine oil level check. There was no explanation, no apology. So I drove away from that shop without the noise problem fixed, with a warning that it was going to fail sooner rather than later. I drove away with an insufficient amount of oil in the engine. POOR SERVICE. Can’t trust the work. Will not be going back to Orillia VW
