Quick and efficient staff

On my way home I noticed an engine light was on. Got home and called Discount who answered my question right away with a great answer

Wrong car, poorly detailed

We did not get the car we reserved (a compact SUV). The reservation was made 3 weeks prior to the actual rental. While we waited approximately 10 minutes for the car to be detailed, the Cruise that we received reeked of smoke and was quite, quite dirty (you could see the smeared marks on the LCD screen). An half empty bottle of water was left in the car and the salt stains (yes, really) were still in the carpets (and it is now June).

It went well

I went to rent a car; then lent me a clean car. I paid too much and I am still waiting on my hold back

Keep your reservations, and don't rent unsafe vehicles.

Made a reservation online for a cargo van, and recieved an email saying my reservation was "confirmed". Arrived at the office the morning of the rental, was told my reservation was "unconfirmed" and there were no cargo vans available. This kind of discrepancy shouldn't happen, what's the point of making a reservation? Eventually a free upgrade to a 16ft cube van was made, which was appreciated. However on returning the van I noticed that the commercial vehicle inspection sticker was close to 4 months expired. (I have photographic proof) So, the truck wasn't road legal. I did let one of the staff members know, they did not seem too concerned and didn't even offer an apology. Really let down by this experience.

Very very BAD

I was given a damaged car, I was given a car with faulty brakes. I was given a car that had a collision showing a dent on the right fender above the tire. I was given a car that was very filthy. The interior and the exterior were filthy and unclean. I nearly had an accident on the highway because the brakes were faulty. And I still had to pay the full rental fee. I got back and reported the entire situation to the manager, all she did was give me her card and told me that if I ever had to rent next time that I should tell the rep to give her a call. “THIS IS THE LAST TIME I AM GOING TO RENT FROM ANY DISCOUNT company”. Renting a damaged and faulty vehicle to a customer, isn’t that against ministry of transportation laws in Ontario/Canada? Also when I returned the vehicle, the manager was in a hurry to rent out that same damaged vehicle. Imagine that! Very terrible service. Never again.
