Overcharged

I have been a loyal discount customer. However this time, the location (Yonge and Eglinton, Toronto) overcharged me for dropping keys in drop box instead of giving it in office. I returned car before my schedule drop time. This was not made clear when I rented and I was informed I could drop keys in the drop box. This is not legit and tantamounts to deception, because how will customer know we can’t drop keys in drop box. I urge discount car management to look into this matter. This not how you treat loyal customers

The car was dirty

The car was very dirty, I need to stop and clean the window because I couldn't see in my front.

Poor experience - Fuel not refunded

When you rent a car, it always comes with full tank. In Discount Car, mine was with half tank and Discount's employee told me that I should bring the car her back at least the same way because I would not be refunded. She told me to keep control of the tank when fueling the car by observing the panel. Definitely this was not a good way to keep control of this. I have been travelling and never came across this issue. In Discount Car it should not be different and it should make its cars available for its costumers with full tank. In the end I dropped the car off by far with much more fuel than I got it. Discount Car, I expect not to rent with you ever!

Booking online is nearly impossible; booking over the phone creates too much friction.

I reserved and SUV from Friday to Monday through the call centre (because the online booking has terrible user experience) and had to call the location directly every day, every 2 hours, with no one picking up. The reason I had to call was because the quote/confirmation didn't have the price, and I had no idea if the car was actually going to be ready for me. It took calling Discount Corporate rentals to figure out that the phone number that the first customer service rep gave me for the location was wrong. Once I had the correct number, the manager at the location (Ali) was great to work with! He confirmed that the car would be available, confirmed the cost, and dealing directly with him was a pleasure. It's 2018 you guys - let me book vehicles online (please fix your terrible UX), and I'll come to Discount more often. ;)

No record of my rental history even though I've rented multiple times.

I have loved Discount for rentals over the past year. I have rented about 4 times and this time inquired about my free weekend. The clerk at the desk said they only had a record of the most recent rental on file and that he could not find any others. I have rented at least 4 times in the past and have the credit card and email records to prove it. I could not get through to customer service and no one called me back after leaving a message. I want to use Discount again but I also do not want to be taken advantage of.
